Abstract:
Macrolides are a group of antibiotics that have been widely used as veterinary drugs. Its residues in animal derived food have gained more and more attention, because of their threat to human health. This article presents an overview on the analytical issues of macrolides residues in food, including different pretreatment method and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.The main technique that has been used to extract macrolides from food is solid-phase extraction, which is effective and needs less solvent. LC or UPLC coupled to a triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer operated in the multiple-reaction monitoring mode is the first choice for quantification, and TOF or QqTOF is suitable for qualitation and identification.
